DEVELOPMENT SCOPE

PROJECT OVERVIEW
8205 SW Barbur Apartments will be a three building, 150-unit complex with a mix of 1, 2, 3, and 4-bedroom units. Located on the corner of Barbur Blvd and SW Capitol Hill Hwy. in the affluent Hillsdale neighborhood of Southwest Portland, 8205 Barbur will provide future residents with quick access next to major employment centers including downtown Portland and Oregon Health Sciences University.
The design concept for 8205 SW Barbur Apartments was developed by IHI in direct response to SW Corridor Equitable Housing Strategy, which called for large, family-sized units accommodating multi-generational living located on Barbur Boulevard, a bustling thoroughfare along which TriMet is planning to extend Max Line services in the medium-term (5-10 years).
The design includes large units (2, 3 and 4 BR units to accommodate families), 3 community spaces to host on-site programming options (one being a regular after-school program), two managers offices, two Resident Services offices, one office for service partners to use when they meet with clients on-site, a laundry room on each floor, and one large indoor bike room. IHI engaged culturally specific service partners serving the Southwest Portland community to tailor the design to the needs of community members most at risk of being economically displaced from Southwest Portland. Additionally, all units will be adaptable or accessible to people with disabilities.
