Creating Solutions to Unmet Housing Needs
Our Properties
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Innovative Housing's apartment communities are designed to serve families, singles, people with disabilities, and those with barriers to housing. Our rents are lower than market-rate apartments and are affordable to households earning 30%, 50%, and 60% of area median income. Some of our units come with rent subsidy and many were developed as permanent supportive housing to help people move directly from homelessness into permanent, safe homes. IHI Housing is about . . .
- People. Innovative Housing creates homes for hard working families and people struggling to make ends meet. In 2009 our residents had an average household income that was just 29% of area median income - for a family of four, this means $20,300 before taxes. IHI's housing and services often make the difference between housing success and homelessness. Learn more by sharing some of our residents' Stories.
- Communities. IHI's developments benefit both our residents and the broader community. Our projects include neighborhood amenities such as affordable child care centers and adult education classrooms that are open to the public. And IHI's development work brings millions of dollars into low-income communities - since 2007 IHI has leveraged $43 million of capital investment dollars in the neighborhoods where we work.
- Sustainability. IHI's developments are built to last and minimize their impact on the environment. IHI intends to own and operate its housing for the long term, so we build quality and prioritize energy efficiency and conservation measures. IHI's Director of Housing Development is LEED Certified.
